Transforming tourism with AR-enabled VR glasses that deliver real-time, interactive navigation.

This project reimagines the tourism experience by harnessing the power of AR-enabled VR glasses to provide real-time, interactive navigation. Instead of relying on traditional guides or static maps, travelers can explore freely, guided by intuitive visual overlays that highlight directions, landmarks, and points of interest. The result is a seamless blend of exploration and technology—making travel more engaging, immersive, and accessible.

Problem

Traditional maps and guides leave tourists disconnected, making exploration clunky and overwhelming.

Navigating unfamiliar places can often be overwhelming for tourists. Conventional methods such as printed maps, guidebooks, or even mobile apps can feel clunky, disruptive, or dependent on external assistance. This creates barriers to fully immersive exploration and can leave travelers feeling disconnected from their environment. The challenge was to design a solution that integrates AR technology into wearable VR glasses, enabling users to confidently navigate on their own while enhancing their overall travel experience.

Solution

Merging AR and VR technologies to create an immersive, intuitive navigation system for travelers.

This project explored how AR and VR technologies could merge to create a more immersive, user-friendly navigation system for tourism. Drawing inspiration from existing platforms such as iOS Measure, Snapchat filters, and Wanna Kicks, I conducted research into their applications and limitations. From there, I developed and tested visual prototypes using a VR headset, experimenting with overlays that guide users in real time. To bring the concept to life, I created a polished demonstration using After Effects and Premiere Pro, showcasing how this system could function in real-world travel scenarios.
